The Government Security Officer was appointed to be responsible to the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Department through the term of reference Government Security Officer dated 15 June 1957 and "Confidential General Circular No. 1, Year 1958, Government Security Officer, Federation of Malaya".
This project involved of installing a Web Application Firewall (WAF) to their respective portal in order to maintain a security order.
Based on WordFence, there are more than 12 Billion attacks blocked by their firewall. This is not inlucing the number of attack that has not been blocked.
From the number itself, it's already clear that security precaution and a defense system is important to maintain our website secure, especially for government sections.
My task is to install and configure a firewall onto the customer portal with the most maximum security and protection. The WAF that is installed and configured is WordFence.
Wordfence is a global team of WordPress security analysts, threat researchers, software engineers, and support staff. They are the leaders in their field, and they focus exclusively on securing WordPress websites, and on WordPress security research.
Apart from securing the portal, I'm also was appointed to fix the current bugs that exists in the portal and identify any broken link and fix it. The bugs that exist in the portal previously might affect the site performance and lead to poor loading times.
Checking on the plugins and theme used is also important as a security measure, since they can be outdated and prone to vulnerability. Having the latest software update will ensure their portal is up to-date with latest malware infections database and able to mitigate in earlier detection.
